The Missing Salmon Alliance welcome a new member to the team
Supported by an award from The Fishmongers Company Academic Sponsorship programme , the MSA Likely Suspects Framework team welcomes Emma Tyldesley as a short-term research fellow.
Hosted and supported by Strathclyde University and under the supervision of Dr Neil Banas (Strathclyde) and the Colin Bull (MSA) , Emma will be researching the use of bio-physical model outputs to support the development of the Likely Suspects Framework, focussing particularly on describing the conditions faced by post-smolt at sea.
Emma’s background is in maths and oceanography. After completing a PhD modelling spatial structure in plankton populations, she worked on fish ecosystem modelling at Marine Scotland Science before a period in industry assessing environmental impact of offshore developments.
Emma is based in northeast Scotland by the River Spey, and is also involved with survey and monitoring work for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation UK and Scottish Invasive Species Initiative.
As an Alliance of five organisations, we will build on the existing work of our partners and maximise our impact by taking a coordinated approach and vital action in order to halt and reverse the decline of wild Atlantic salmon.
The goal of the Missing Salmon Alliance is to build an evidence-base to influence national and international decision-makers to regulate activities that adversely impact wild Atlantic salmon.
