Institute of Fisheries Management (IFM) Set to Host Sea Trout Symposium
An IFM Sea Trout Symposium is set to be held in Cardiff on the 12th and 13th of September at the Angel Hotel. The purpose of this symposium is to draw together the considerable amount of sea trout research that has been carried out in recent years and to show how this increased knowledge could be turned into practical fisheries policy and action.
The conference findings will be used to inform a follow-up workshop to be held at Fishmongers Hall in London in November. With selected key decision makers, the aim is to draw up an Action Plan for the future management of sea trout in Britain and Ireland.
The Missing Salmon Alliance look forward to seeing the likely development of meaningful actions through local groups, to complement the longer term process of getting the Government regulators to act, and the setting of environmental restoration works in the natural history / conservation context rather than the more rarefied world of sea trout.
As an Alliance of six organisations, we will build on the existing work of our partners and maximise our impact by taking a coordinated approach and vital action in order to halt and reverse the decline of wild Atlantic salmon.
The goal of the Missing Salmon Alliance is to build an evidence-base to influence national and international decision-makers to regulate activities that adversely impact wild Atlantic salmon.
